I'd like to commend you on your videos, they are very enlightening and detailed. I watched the video on the ruffler and hemmer feet and would like to purchase them. i would also like your advice on other presser feet that would make my sewing experience fun.
I have 2 sewing machines: EMEL industrial straight sewing and the old regular manual black head.
could you please advice me on a good brand of the ruffler foot that would fit my machines and also other feet.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XCIFsD4x19Mendofvid [starttext]You did a great job. One question though, when you are done sewing your piece...do you continue sewing to get the 10 inches of thread and cut, or lift foot and raise needle, cut and pull ten inches of upper and lower thread? [endtext]

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hQ2SkLBhTnIendofvid [starttext]I'm having trouble picking the right fabric, needle & thread. Do you know of a good place to start for that?
  • At Joanne's fabric, I asked for it. No luck. Then I asked for heavy thread & a needle to accommodate. I ended up with the wrong needle & small thread. I didn't know what numbers to ask for.
  • Just about any basic sewing machine will do, however I do like the White brand of machines. I have had much success with them. In my shop all of my employees used the White brand. You can probably get a good used one off ebay...that's where I found majority of mine.

Your videos are very helpful! Do you have a recommendation for a beginners sewing machine?
Thanks for your comment. I personally like the White brand machines. Any brand will work for a beginner, just make sure that the inside parts are metal because they will last longer. Thanks for watching. [endtext]

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RvXzoFzvVFQendofvid [starttext]I've tried playing with the tension (highest tension, normal tension, less tension) and none of that seems to have an effect. While this trick allowed my machine to be able to "shir," it more just gathered the fabric. Any attempt to stretch it results in the thread breaking. Any ideas?
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I was about ready to blow my head off trying to get my machine to give a decent shir! Can I ask at what tension and stitch length you've got yours set to?
AMAZING! Thank you so much! I didn't have to tighten the screw at all, but loading the bobbin backwards totally did the trick.
Found your video and tried to follow your instructions. I managed to get it to shir properly once, but it was actually too tight. I pulled it out and made a slight adjustment (barely a whole tension digit) to get it to give a little more, but then it didn't work. Put it back to my original tension and it still won't work. I don't know why it's not working. I've tightened the bobbin screw as tight as possible without making the thread impossible to move and still no luck after the first go. :/
thank you for this vid. I have a brother sewing machine too and by tightening the screw it helps to shir. I tried with the highest tension that is 9, but my top thread keep breaking and if I'd put the tension to 3 -4, the stretchiness of the bottom thread seem to be gone. The best for me is 6 on tension. Thank you again, now I can try to make a summer dress by using your technic.

Very good instructions, I just bought the same machine about 2 weeks ago and still haven't used it because I need thread to fill the bobbin and then learn all the sewing designs, buttons, etc. PLEASE do videos on the different sewing designs on the machine and what or how they are used for individually. Most of the customer feedback for the Brother CS6000i has been extremely positive. However, the product has also received a few criticisms from its customers, which we will now discuss in the interest of presenting our readers with an unbiased perspective on the sewing machine.

The first thing you should be aware of is that this machine will not work properly with cheap thread. A large number of the reviewers have found that when they have used cheap thread it tends to bunch on the underside of the fabric. Using good quality thread should solve this problem.

Another complaint has been made about the sewing machine’s light. The customers have found it to be small, dim, and too badly placed to be effective. If you usually rely on a light during your sewing sessions then you may wish to purchase a lamp in addition to this machine.

Again, most of the reviews have been very positive, but if you would like to read some more examples of negative reviews then you can do so by clicking HERE.

The Positive Reviews

With over 600 five-star reviews, it is clear that the Brother CS6000i has impressed many of its reviewers.

After researching the feedback for this product, we have determined that it is clear that this machine is very easy to use. Some reviewers who were novice sewers have been able to make a quilt on their very first day using this machine. There are a number of features that make the machine extremely user-friendly.

For example, when you change stitches the LCD display will tell you which presser foot is appropriate. The manual has also proven to be very helpful and effective in teaching users how to use this machine. The fact that it offers fully computerized sewing, automatic needle threading, and a bobbin that is easy to wind makes it a highly easy-to-use machine.

Not only is it easy to use, it is also fast and precise. It comes with every foot and accessory you could ever need, which will save you from having to buy additional accessories. This has been a welcome change for the reviewers who have purchased a machine in the past only to find out that they need to make further purchases in order to be able to use the product effectively.

It has proven to be reliable and well built with some users still using it after four years since their purchase. Compliments have also been made for its lightweight design and for its quilting table.
